Out of bed at 7am and I (Silver) made the relatively short journey to Silverstone for race day, camera equipment in tow. The weather reports for Saturday had kept me away and it looks like Andrew did a good job of getting wet anyway! Sunday was much improved and led to me managing to get sunburnt; something of a rarity in this country at the best of times. Without media access, Silverstone is poor for photographing from the wrong side of the fence but there are a couple of positions one can take up without being impeded too much. Imagine my dismay when I discovered one of them closed off due to them erecting a marquee! Oh well, at least the racing was good. Massive respect to Toseland for battering his way up to a comfortable third in the first race, before promising to do the same the second time out (and delivering). Some fans went home very happy no doubt, after he launched all of his clothing (bar his socks and boxers) into the crowd after Race 2.

Very well done to Tommy Hill who, as a wildcard rider, had stuck his Yamaha on Pole Position. In his first ever World Superbike races he did extremely well to bag two 12th places and some invaluable experience. The other Brit at the sharp end was Walker, who transformed his front row start into very respectable 6th and 8th places. Roll on Brands Hatch at the end of the year!
