Description
Surrounded by beautiful mountains and twisty roads the small town of Llangollen in North Wales put on it's very first motorbike show at the Royal International Pavilion Showground. The weather was very kind, the sun shone down quickly drying out the morning dew making way for the hundreds of bikers to invade the show ground.
As you can see in the photo's, Welsh TT rider Paul Owen had a vast array of his goods on show including many of his trophies won over the years. My first experience of Paul was a few months ago whilst up at the Ponderosa Cafe on Horseshoe Pass, he was warming up with a cuppa as it was a cold winters day. We left to make our way back around the winding pass when all of a sudden Paul just whizzed by, it was obvious he knew these roads very well and didn't need to brake for the hairpin unlike me!
Inside the marquee there were alot of vintage bikes on show, the 1916 550cc Triumph model H that is pictured on the stand holds alot of history. This bike carried the German Kaiser's letter of surrender to the allies at the end of WW1. The owner Brad Jones had bought the bike for £4000 in 1997 to use for special occasions, it was only later he found out of the under laying history of the bike.
I was in bike heaven Saturday walking around learning about the backgrounds of so many old bikes, most looked just as good as the day they were made.
