Description
The day after the World Superbike (WSB) races, the gang were up at the circuit to ride the same course (International), which was supposidly better designed for bikes than the GP circuit, according to the MCN track-guide. Well they weren't wrong! This circuit is far more fun than the GP, allowing riders to keep closer together for more action, and it has a better flow.
Getting there was interesting, after having to split from the pre-agreed meeting point in London when the 'guide' didn't show up, we had to blast up the M40 and take matters into our own hands. Once there, we did our three sighting laps, then it rained for the first real session. We all sat it out, apart from Grant, who's a but weird like that and enjoys riding a road-bike around a very slippery track. Don't do what one of the LB lot did and put your bike and kit in a van, drive up, then realise you've left the bike keys on the kitchen table, doh!
A top time was had the rest of the day as the sun was beaming and the track time was superb with Grant, Cezar and Jay having a great time swapping places continually. Brian came out in the afternoon after securing an empty slot, then the worst happened, one of the guys, Pete, high-sided his immaculate R1 coming out of Copse corner (T1). He was beaten up a bit, but luckily nothing is broken, and his bike wasn't too bad considering the speed and circumstances of the off! Our thoughts are with him for a quick recovery, of both man and machine!
A nice ending was the fact that the F1 teams starting turned up and giving us an insight into what goes on behind the scenes for F1 testing. There was much secrecy when LB photographers started doing their thing, so that didn't last long.
