Description
Unfortunately, the community suffered it's first passing away of a member. Full Throttle, real name Ali, was involved in a fatal motorcycle accident whilst traveling along the A40 into Central London on Friday the 31st of March. Ali was a relatively new member to the community, but in the time he shared with us, his immense enthusiasm for biking shone through like a light-house at night. He left a very positive impression on a number of us.
Everyone in the community shared their grief and sadness for the loss of Ali, some just paying their respects and others leading the way to formally show the respects of the community. With less than 24hrs notice, the forums were alit with posts about 40 people on bikes wishing to attend Ali's funeral procession, at the request of Ali's family. This was no small feat and it shows how everyone cared and felt proud to be a part of the community.
A ceremony was held at the Regent's Park Muslim mosque, where everyone was welcome, then a procesession of forty bikes went on a last ride with Ali, following his herse to the Garden of Peace burial grounds in Ilford, Essex. This was a long ride with a number of people acting as out-riders to see the procession flow uninterupted to its destination.
This was a very sad time for all those who attended, with a very heart-warming ceremony. The community felt honoured to be invited, and welcomed into the midst of what we can only imagine to be the most traumatic of times for the family and loved-ones of Ali. We were all humbled.
For those that couldn't attend the procession, the new Waterloo meet was used later in the evening to allow everyone to come and sign a book of condolences which are to be presented to Ali's family as a token of our respect, perhaps to allow them look back in time and see how much of an impact Ali had made upon us all.
Whilst the community is making strides to publicise all that's good about biking, there is also another side which contains danger, we hope that everyone can take something from this and realise that it's all too easy to allow bikes to bite back. We hope that everyone can remember this whilst out enjoying our passion; biking.
R.I.P Ali.
