Description
Another trackday for the members with Focused Events. Leading up to the day the weather had been amazing for a couple of weeks with brilliant sunshine, but then it all changed and suddenly a low pressure wave the size of Europe came in off the Atlantic and froze us all out, giving us rain and cloud cover all day. It was clear we would have to make the most of what we had.
The night before a number of us met up at the Melbourne Loop Hotel (a very nice one) and had a chat over a few drinks before having an early night to prepare for our 6am start. Once at the circuit it was cloudy but more or less dry. Spirits were raised but a few weren't fooled and Jay bought a pair of full wet racing tyres in advance of any bad weather. After signing-on, the rain started and stayed with us. Everyone tip-toed around on their road-tyres until in the afternoon it started drying out and we could have some fun.
Unfortunately Francesco experienced first-hand the low levels of grip in the wet in the morning and slipped off at coppice, breaking his clutch lever, ending his day. Eugine, Grant, Brian, Ben and Mel and everyone else had a good day in the end though and came away understanding more about riding in adverse conditions whilst still having fun.
Watching LB member, Senior Instructor and Race-Setup expert 'B' show everyone the way round the damp and slippery circuit on his 750 with Pirelli Supercorsa tyres fitted was a sight to behold and left many people wondering if he can also walk on water.
