more amazing than the lack of traffic is the lack of street furniture and sign-age!

Also the empty spaces - the gaps in the streets filled with prefabs - the legacy of the blitz?

great vid and cool bikes, how things have changed.

The old lady at the crossing - I don't know what the position was back then but when I recently did my advance bike training I was told I should not have stopped for a lad who was waiting to cross the road, because he may not have wanted to cross?? made no sense to me

Very much enjoyed watching that, Hanna, thanks for posting. As the cliche goes, they don't make them like that any more.

I also like the absence of any road markings (except zebra crossings), the appearance of the odd bubble car (youdon't see those any more), and the "men ride motorbikes, women ride scooters" stereotyping, which I guess didn't go down too well with the Mods at thetime.

For the anoraks amongst us, this was filmed in 1965, and at least some of it looks like it wasin theWembley area (the road they were pulling out of at the end was Wyld Way, onto the A404 Harrow Road).

I knew I recognised some of the roads, at 5:30 onwards, the biker turns out of a side turning onto Rayners Lane and past the shops.....and the geek part if it works can be seen on the google maps link below

That's a lovely video. Especially the narrator. That accent and way of talking should become compulsory with any form of training

Same as now i would imagine- pedestrian has right of way once they have set foot onto the crossing.

I noticed the back brake was on the wrong side

I still ride my bike like it was my old tricycle

"When watching men of power in action it must be always kept in mind that, whether they know it or not, their main purpose is the elimination or neutralization of the independent individual -- the independent voter, consumer, worker, owner, thinker -- and that every device they employ aims at turning men into a manipulable 'animated instrument' which is Aristotle's definition of a slave." -- Eric Hoffer

Beat me to it... Lack of due care and attention!

Is it me or was the weather back then just as cr@p as it is now...
