Hi

The end of my speedometer cable snapped of at the wheel end taking the threading from the speedo gear (housing) with it. Not only do i need a new speedo cable it also looks like i need a new speedo gear becuase the threaded bar the speedo cable screws too has snapped off.

the garage said it would be about 80 for speedo gear, 20-30 for cable and 45 mins labour coming to about £160 with VAT does this sound about right to anyone and how easy is it to replace myself bearing in mind i would ahve to borrow/buy equipment to do so.

Should be easy enough to do yourself.

Buy the new speedo gear and try getting a replacement cable from Venhill (mine was 1/3 of the price from them) instead of OEM.

Drop the front wheel out and replace the drive part....screw the cable back in on both ends.

HTH

not got bits or owt m8 just offering to help fit the bits with you etc.

Go on ebay, no doubt will be on there only prob you might have is when people sell whels they sell the bits that go with it to.

Failing that, try robinsons foundry for new parts.

would have though b12 would be same too.
