Hey everyone,

I'm hoping to be riding soon if I pass my Direct Access in November, after fluffing up the first attempt (damn u-turn!)! :)

Haven't got a bike yet but hoping to be getting a nice second-hand Bandit 600 mainly to get me from home to work and back again (live in Hayes, work in Slough).

Completely new to the whole bike scene but I'm sure I'll pick up some nice info from reading these forums. (My brother is a member and guided me here.)

.. well maybe not strictly true as it was second hand but you get the idea.
Now suffering bus lane camera paranoia, as well as learning the delicate art of filtering from fellow bikers who streak past up both sides of the queue pf traffic in front of me..
it's all good though, picked a sunny week to start riding round the city, and i get quite a lot further than i did on my cycle:cool:

Been riding my YBR125 for just over a year now, pass my DAS 3 weeks ago

Looking for a used bigger bike (600?), what to get? how much to pay?

Starting to ride is probably the best thing I've ever done, though it can be lonely out there sometimes, i don't know anyone who rides. However I have found riding alone to be great fun, just riding all over the place, going where ever you want - so i do enjoy that

I ride every day, regardless of the weather, I live in Shoreditch (central London)

Hope i can get to know some people on the forum to ride out with from time to time

Haven't really had a chance to complete my profile but just thought I'd introduce myself.

I ride a Kawasaki Z750 and am starting to become a self confessed fair weather rider but I don't think I will ever admit it :-)

LB was introduced to me by a friend of mine jimblade.

Hope to speak ( and when the weather improves ) see some of you on the meets.

'fraid that I am one of the many commuters that come in from NW London daily into Holborn. I even get quite a few remarks when the find out that I'm a girlie though, especially from Northerners!

Hello!

Most of you already know my husband, Tim (buttonmonkey). He's been telling me to join you ever since I got my bike in May, but you know what it's like... too busy watching Simpsons...

Anyhow, my personal circumstances have changed slightly since and I now find myself permanently stuck on the sofa. Which kind of takes the shine away from TV (don't get me wrong, I would probably have slit my wrists by now without sky+)

I had a very pretty ER5 until last Friday when I got hit by an idiot resulting in a metal plate holding my tibia together and a cast that reaches half way up my thigh. So I guess you could call me an ex-biker until the insurance money comes through and I can buy a new one (I'm clearly assuming my leg heals first...)

Anyhow, I think this is enough of my moaning for now... Even though I have all the time in the world to write this, you might not want to read it...

Hey all,

Joined LB recently but never got around to actually write a newbie post till now.

A bit about myself. I'm from Denmark and got my full license back in 2001 but never got around to buying a bike till June this year (long story that involves the insane Danish tax on motorbikes and cars). I ended up going with a CBR 600 FS2. Since it's my first bike I can't really compare it to anything but so far I've had about 3000 enjoyable miles on it :)

Anyway, thought I'd just pop in and say hi and hope to meet some of you at the Ace Cafe in the future.

Well, I'm finally on the road with my little GP 100, and I flippin loves it I tells you!

Riding is just a great feeling. I've driven up Highgate West Hill dozens and dozens of times in a car, but all of a sudden just climbing a hill like that on my wee motorcycle becomes an adventure.

I'm riding all over the place, visiting friends I haven't seen for a while, just as an excuse to ride out to places.

It is a bit blimmin scary though I must admit.

At night I can just tell that people pulling out of side roads onto the main road in either direction, just do not see you for a while. I'm certainly not being shy with the horn.

Twice at night I've had police cars with sirens come out of junctions across red lights that I've been blind to until the last moments. One of 'em caught me so off guard that when I pulled on the front brake I was still accelerating, and kind of had a brain stall. I just remembered what I heard one experienced biker say: 'when in doubt pull in the clutch'.

I'm super vigilante when I'm overtaking lines of slow moving traffic. There's just so many spots where cars could be pulling out from any direction.

One big one that I've noticed is when your undertaking a car turning right at a junction. Cars looking to turn right from the opposite direction have absolutely no idea you're there!

Anyway, it doesn't put me off. I really love it.

Was hoping to get along to newbie night on Monday, but looks like I've got to do some work thing instead.:angry:

Hi All! t

Thought I spent some lines to introduce myself. I ride a '07 600cc hornet when in London and back home (a few thousand miles away) I ride a '00 600cc Yamaha XT, converted to a supermoto.

As you can say from my usr name I admire japanese (I know they are not all jap build :P) bikes. No offense to the italian admirers but what's the point of riding something that needs an engine rebuild evey 10k miles - if that (oups, I think I am about to start a war! :w00t:)

Anyway, I hope I dont get misundrestood and you get my humour.

Look forward to meet some of you on the newbbie meeting at Ace Cafe.

I have been riding for quite some years now and have an array of junk bikes in me shed hopefully one day will have a reliable bike so I can come on one of your rideouts. Quite keen on the stunting side of motorbiking but am starting off with baby steps so its just the odd bunnyhop at the mo. Been lurking for a couple of days now so feel I should say hello.

I have been riding for about 3 years now after a 15 year gap. Went straight to a Triumph Daytona 955 DSSA (2002) and love every minute of it. So much so that I also bought a Daytona 955 track bike earlier this year and intend to do my first track day at Brands on Wednesday :)

Spent 6 months last year comuting to work in Victoria, and while I loved the riding, I hated the job, so am now a system engineer with a white van!

it sounds a bit sad but i lack biker friends,... (actually i think i lack friends generally (lol)) i had some biker friends bout 10 years ago and we were really close but i was not on a bike back then and i think they lost hope in me getting on two wheels and i havent seen or heard from them in coming up to two years now.

now the friends (and family) i have are not in favour of my choice of transport, i have no one to turn up to events or meets with. sooo if likewise u are a lonely rider and want to go places / meets and want to know at least one person when u get there, holla at me cos i would like to hang out on my bike more

Hey peeps.
Im the new guy. This site has been recommended to me on more than one occasion now so thought i'd give it a go. Been riding on road for almost 2 years now. On the bike everyday without fail. Absolutely love the feeling of freedom that comes with a bike. Currently riding a K8 busa although im on the look out for a winter bike. Some sort of streetfighter im thinking. I know 2 years and a K8 busa sounds like a recipe for disaster, but ive been brought up on track bikes. My dad was British GrassTrack Champion and so ive grown up around bikes. No sooner had my stabilisers come off my first BMX when a lawn mower engine was welded onto it and i was shown how to get the back wheel out. The rest as they say, is history.......

New to the site just wanted to say Hi!

Learning to ride at the moment and have a gorgeous Bandit who is sat patiently on my driveway waiting for me to give him a good ride... in the meantime I am lavishing him with loads of love and attention (how many times can I wash and polish him without it becoming a fetish :w00t: :w00t: :w00t: )

Had my test last week but rather stupidly whilst putting the bike on side stand I got my foot caught on peg lost my balance and the bike toppled over pinning me to the floor.... examiner wouldn't let me carry on in case I injured myself so as a result of not completing test I failed although right up to that point I had passed ...... blooming typical although it is quite a "cool" why I failed story much more interesting than just leaving the indicators on :D :D :D

Found this site the other day while looking for good biking resources. I live in North West London (near Harrow), and work in the City, so this site was a great find! I recognise a few names from other forums I frequent, so I hope it's a friendly place.

I am new to biking - did my CBT in August, bought a 125 the next day to practice on (a Yamaha XT125R) and have been riding around on it regularly. I am off to World of BMW in October to do a DAS course and test. Really looking forward to it, although I suspect the weather is going to be "fun".

Spending a lot of time trying to decide what bike to buy once I pass my test, lurching between a 650GS, Hornet, and some weirder stuff :D I have a feeling I am am going to end up with a few over the years (already not sure I want to part with the XT when I get something bigger - it's my first bike afterall!)

Anyway, enough waffling. Hope to participate fully in the forum from here on in :cool:

Yes, The Stranger is now living in Kingston at university. Moved in on Saturday, and I'm now shopping for a bike :)
I've not been on here much whilst getting everything ready for uni, going out and working, but hopefully will be on a bit more from now on.
