Sunday 21st March - Ridout to Rye and beyond

Visit to a kitchen shop in Rye with associated hairy roads. Would suit girls & chefs.

No 125s, ride at your own risk, rock up with a full tank at the Ace on Sunday with luggage to accommodate a full Le Cruset set.

9.00 am meet for a 9.30 departure.

Warning: This ride may incorporate a Camber Sands/Dungeness experience. Not for the faint-hearted.

We're going anyway as need to buy a potato masher (old school styleee) Mrs J's modern poncey masher is not up to the job.

Eezyrida, Giuliano and Nemaxma this is one for you:)

Terry Moto, Tug, TDJ, Rioting Rob, etc... there is a pub and chippy nearby, you don't have to visit the culinary version of "Snap On Tools" to enjoy this ride:D

Boxhill next weekend

Hello folks,

Am planning on a fairly sedate, calm ride next weekend (either Sat or Sun depending on the weather predictions) round the Boxhill lanes. :)

It will be the first rideout since before I went to Afghanistan, so as it's been about 18 months off two wheels, it won't suit anyone who wants to race around at top speed or do a 300 mile hoon with wheelies and stoppies etc. It's more of a little jolly round the lanes for those that want to get our confidence up again before the summer ride outs, interspersed with some nice cups of tea. My bike should be ready by this Wednesday, so it'll be a nice fun little jaunt.

As I have no sense of direction still (despite riding from Box on quite a number of occasions in the past :blush:) I am hoping Martin (Emsee) can offer to come along with his usual expertise at finding nice roads and maybe doing the Pirbright Esses :)

Should be meeting at Rykers late morning, say 11.30 ish - and will see the forecast before going for Sat or Sun!

Our annual pilgrimage to Brugge to buy Easter Eggs is happening on Saturday 27th March, everyone is welcome to join us, book and post you are coming! I am booked and will be going anyway:cool:

The Eurotunnel cost is £28 return (bargain)

We will be going out on the 07:20 and returning on the 18:20.

The latest check in for the 07:20 is 06:50 idealy we will get there a little ealier just in case, so

First meet point will be Maidstone Service area J8 of the M20. We will leave there at 06:10 on the dot!!!

just make sure you have enough fuel to get to Folkstone, we will fill up straight off the train. or you can make your own way to the train and we will see you there.

We will arrive France at 08:55 (local time) after fueling up it should take about 3 hours (including stops) to get to Brugge.

Once there you do as you please! We will be parking in the main square so will be in the middle of everything.

We will leave Brugge at 14:00 on the dot! to be back in Calais for 17:50 (latest check in time) We arrive back in Folkstone at 17:50 (uk time)

As You are aware from a previous post only a few days ago that the Guvna is back this time with a BOOM!!, Its been a while since I spoke to Barro, but Sunday afternoon I get a message through facebook with his number so I bell him up and after a brief catch up He told me his plans for summer 2010. If you read the other thread then you know its to do with the Breast cancer London Moonwalks.

Now if your an LB old skooler and took part in the BCW 1 or 2 then you know how good these weekends were especially the BCW 1, If you didn't or you wasn't around then this is your chance to be part of something special the best thing you can do with a tank of petrol and your bike This is the ultimate feel good factor I kid you not!! The Barro is working along side the organisers and promised them the best volunteer safety crew this side of the Arctic circle which of course they have lapped up, Now who are we to let him or them down??? Your job as part of this safety crew is to mark and monitor key points of the route as the last of the walkers come past your point you will moved on to another point. But more importantly you are there for encouragement, support, have a laugh with the walkers and get behind them 100% YOU ARE THE MOTIVATION they need.

Both BCWs we were told repeatidly by walkers at the end of the event that we made the whole thing more bearable, so I can tell you this is no Hollow task on your part you will be noticed thanked and the event will stay with you long after, You will be going up and down like a frog in a box for days!!

This is a Big thing to put together and Barro has a few team Players to help him I was not expecting him to ask me for help but he did with no hesitation on my part so my job is to create the interest and recruit willing bikers to give up a weekend on the 15th May.... Know any???

Stick your interest on This thread so we have a record of names to go through obviously there are a few key players out there that have a space reserved but there's plenty of spaces to be filled.

Please don't clog the thread up with ****, I only want to know your interested, Not that you would love to do it But that weekend your taking your Granny to Skegness!!

last year I asked you to join us on this run, and it was the best run for many years! So a year on I'm asking you again to join us. One change from last year is that we have a police pilot for the run as we had for the toy run at Christmas, which went very smoothly.

Community Links is based in Newham, East London, one of the poorest and most deprived urban areas in the UK, where 55% of children live in poverty. Throughout the year Community Links organises clubs, activities and services for over 3,700 disadvantaged children each week.

Our Easter egg Collection aims to provide for each child referred, an egg or two. Children are referred by a unique combination of East London’s caring agencies and family support groups including Social, Health, Education and Probation Services, Women’s Aid, Gingerbread and the Association Against Domestic violence, ensuring that the Community Links Easter Appeal helps those most in need at Easter. This Appeal helps children aged between three months and fifteen years old. Already we know of many especially needy children who will be receiving nothing this year, for them our Appeal is their only hope of a happy Easter. At the moment none of these children are looking forward to Easter. Please help us to change this.

IMPORTANT

Sunday 14th March 2010

The ride will be starting at Leigh Delamere Service Station J17 (eastbound) of the M4. Please start arriving from 10:30am.

Each rider will pay £5 and receive an Afghan Heroes wristband, which will be their entry pass to RAF Lyneham. The lead riders will be leaving at 12 noon promptly. The route will be along the M4 to J16 before heading along the A-Roads towards Wootton Bassett. We will be riding through at a slow speed before continuing along to RAF Lyneham. We are honored that they are opening their gates for us and refreshments will be available.

All those attending RAF Lyneham will require to pre register giving Name, Address, DOB and Bike Registration. This is to enable security clearance to be carried out by the RAF. REGISTRATION CLOSES MONDAY 15TH FEBRUARY 2010. Anyone who does not register WILL NOT be allowed onto RAF Lyneham.

Registration will be through a secure site, this will be posted out on Monday.

We will be riding to RAF Lyneham where there will be a presentation to hand over the funds raised for the Afghan Heroes Charity, set up last September by a group of mothers who lost their sons in Afghanistan.

St Georges Day Rideout 2010

Here it is guys, the St Georges Day Rideout 2010

The plan is to meet at the ace cafe ot 08:00 on the Sunday the 25th of April.

This is a medium paced ride consisting of a front man (PUPPY) and Tail gunner (yet to be confirmed) who will be wearing HI-Vis vests so the likleyhood of anyone getting lost will be kept to a minimum.We will stricktley adhere to the conerman system which can be found here : http://londonbikers.com/forums/Topic435756-52-1.aspx

And if anyone is found leaving the're post, i shall personally give them a wet willy infront of everyone to laugh at.

The route will be around 210miles round trip,(it really dosent feel that far trust me) so please bring plenty of petrol tokens and please fill up before you arrive. The route is one of the best routes i have ever ridden with plenty of stunning scenery and twisty roads. Members/Non-Members who have ridden the past St Georges Rideouts have had a bloody good day with losts of good memorys.

125 riders are welcome as long as you can maintain 60mph+. Riders new to biking are also more than welcome.This will be a safe rideout with spirited riders mostley being up the front. If you are not comfortable with overtaking you can ride at your own leisure safe in the knowlege that you'll always have the tail gunner right behind you.

If your a new rider and want to hang at the back, there's no pressure to move up the feild.

We shall ride in a staggard formation along the route as this deems to be the safest way of doing things as saftey is absolutley paramount.

It's a cracking part of town, a stone's throw from our previous summer venue at the Cubana and couldn't be any more bang in the middle of London if we'd have tried. It's a load better than previous venues, but might not look it in the photos, it's one of those venue's that just 'feels' right. You'll have to be there to understand.It's got so much character and is so 'London' that we fell in love with it straight away. Hi people, just signed up here to the london bikers, I have been to one of your wednesday meets before, and decided to see how many of you are part of the No To Bike Parking Tax Campaign, I am basically trying to spread awareness as I was in Bromley last week talking to a fellow biker who got a parking ticket in westminster when he was visiting a friend as he didnt know you had to pay, and he didnt know anything about the campaign or that the tax might spread to camden and other council's later in the year if we dont get it abolished now.

I know it's way off at the moment but seeing as i'm new here i thought i'd test the water to see how many of you know or take part in this ride.

In breif... It's an annual get together on the first bank holiday in May (this year it's 3rd May) of 1000's of bikers at Hastings which has been running for over 50 years run by the BMF. The start is at Locksbottom (the beginning of the A21) and most people meet there at 9am, then after a chat and a few snouts we leave for 9:30ish for a nice gentle meander all the way down the A21 to Hastings seafront. I normally go every year (unless it's pi$$in down) and every year it seems to grow a bit more, i kid you not when i say you will have trouble parking if you arrive after midday, the seafront is totally packed solid with bikes from one end of Hastings to the other.

Also... Bear in mind this is no mad 150mph+ ride, there is a very visible police presence but they rarely stop anyone, unless you ride like a complete twat.

So... Anyone going or up for it?

Wanted: Experienced motorcyclists with full licences to ride to a mystery destination.

Would perhaps suit those who did not register in time for Wootton Bassett

Participants should be free from Mother’s Day duties or have completed these beforehand.

Applicants should be capable of meeting at the esteemed Ace Cafe at 9.00 ish with a full tank for a 9.30 departure and should expect a full day’s excursion.

Knowledge of the Cornerman System is essential (read Flatout’s post in the Rideouts section – training can be given on the day if you are still not sure after reading it)

North Wales #6 Day Trip

Saturday 24th April to meet up with The North Wales Weekenders:w00t:

This will be approx 700 miles in a day, leave London around 5am for a fast motorway blat upto North Wales, spend the day with the guys on those fantastic Welsh twisties then leave around 3pm for a fast blat home.

I did this last year and it is very do-able and great fun, if the weather is kind:)

This is for sensible riders, if you can call doing 700 miles in a day sensilbe:w00t: no road warriors, oh and no 125's:)

I am not expecting many of you to join me, but just in case it is limited 10 bikes.

Hi 125ers,

Just wondering who is around on this forum, and who would be interested in a 125 only ride when the weather picks up?

I run a bit of an exclusive 125 group and I have a few spaces open :P

If interested in applying you need to:
-be a sensible and courteous rider
-be interested in building your riding confidence and experience
-be friendly
-don't mind riding slow (my speedo over estimates my speed)

I know it sounds boring, but I would like to go home in one piece.

I leave in September to go back home, and will definitely be riding every weekend when the weather is nice.

125/Beginner Rideout To The South (7th March)

Anyone up for a slow-ish ride, aimed at increasing confidence at hopefully kicking off the 'rideouts in good weather' season is welcome to join us on a slow saunter to a Mystery location near the south coast...

Date: 7th March
Start: Ace Cafe
Time: 0900 for 0930 departure

This will be a slow one, so hopefully lots of 125's and, if there are spaces, people with big bikes but little experience.

We will be using the cornerman system (see the sticky in this forum if you don't know what that means) and Ally will be tailgunning on a giant yellow bike, so you shouldn't be able to miss that.

If the weather still massively sucks, we will cancel or rearrange.

Got a great route sorted.

Main ride will be from Box Hill to Box Hill. Mileage around 150. Ride will leave Box Hill at 1030-1045, anyone meeting at Box try and get there around 1020.

Ride from Ace to Box will leave at 0930 and HOPEFULLY have time to stop for a coffee! If everything goes to plan we will leave around 1030-1045. This is around where the fun will start!

From here the lunch stop is a mere 50 miles. We will stop for 45-60 minutes for lunch, and then we will hit some more great roads and hopefully get back to Box around 1615-1630. At this point anyone not going to the Ace can say goodbye, before we gently saunter home. If all that goes according to plan....job will indeed be a good'un!

Directions to The Crown from J24 of the M25

Exit M25 at J24 onto the A111 signposted Potters Bar. Continue on and move into the right hand lane at the crossroads/main traffic lights to turn right (Abby building on the right. Continue along until the road turns into a V and follow the right hand lane at traffic lights signposted B156 Cuffley.

Continue along B156 for approximately 1 mile and turn left on to Vineyards Road (Sun Inn on left and Church on the right). Continue for another mile and you will reach a crossroads (signposted Newgate Street Village). Go straight across in to Carbone Hill and continue on for another mile, you will pass Cuffley Camp on the left and then arrive into Newgate Street where you will see Millbrook Golf Course on your left and a mini-roundabout in front of you. Head straigh across and into Newgate Street and the Crown will be just ahead.

Directions To The Crown From J25 of the M25 (A10)

Leave the M25 at J25 onto the A10 towards Hertford and Cambridge. Take the first left at the next roundabout onto the B198 towards Goffs Oak/Cuffley (Lieutenant Ellis Way). Follow the dual carriageway to the next roundabout and take the first exit onto the B156 (Goffs Lane.) Continue along this road and turn right at the next roundabout, war memorial on the left, and onto Newgatestreet Road.

Continue along this road until reaching the T junction at the top, turn left onto Darnicle Hill. Continue along the road, down the hill and under the railway bridge. At the top of the hill there is a mini roundabout, take the next right into Newgate street and the Crown is just ahead.

Yes indeed and here it is, the NABD Tricycle event at the Ace coming right up, and all things being equal, I'll be there (to loooove and comfort yoooo-hoooo tra la).

As I've just belatedly renewed my membership, it reminds me that NABD is affiliated to the BMF and MAG and is quite handy for the discounts given to both of those organisations, apparently.

Means I gotta wash the trike tho :(

Le Mans 24 Heure Moto 2010

I am planning on going to Le Mans again in 2010 for the 24 Hour Motorcycle race. It is an amazing weekend and i would urge anyone that has never been to try and get along.

It will be held on the 17th and 18th April but i plan on heading there on Friday 16th and coming back on Monday 19th. We will be staying in a hotel, i did the camping thing the first time i went 9 years ago and vowed never to do it again :P

To give you an idea of costs involved i would expect it to be about £600 all in, thats fuel, tunnel, hotel, tickets, food and drink. Obviously if you do like a drink then expect to spend a bit more:) It used to be about £500 until the Pound took a beating against the Euro.

The weather is a gamble, i have been when it has been scorching and also when it didn't stop raining (hence the hotel) either way with the company and atmosphere it is a great long weekend.

If you are interested then let me know it would be good to get a few along to experience it with me.

SO myself Alex Gold and Schubert (the hello magazine crew we have aparently been named) are meeting a chiswick roundabout at 8pm to go to BM.

SO if you would like to come then you are welcome to meet us there. I will also be coming past the ace at 7.30 ish so if you would prefer i can meet there if you haven't been before or your just lazy and want to drink tea if im late!!!

As a few people know, I managed to bin the bike whilst out with the 125 hooligans :w00t: in July last year whilst supposedly on a quiet BCR type ride. Following a combination of whiplash/concussion/work/new baby and weather I have not got the bike back on the road or even been out on one since then, so yesterday was my first time out for about 6 months when I went to drop the bike off for an MOT - managed to keep the CBR600 and fix her up. Well I can certainly remember the basics of riding, but the condition of the road made me somewhat nervous and my balance is a little lacking on the bike. Glad to say that i did feel relatively comfortable though and definately confirmed that I do want to be back on the bike and I enjoy riding. :D

What is obvious is that I definately need to rack up some hours/miles on the bike, brush up on road positioning observational skills/routines particularly as I am a commuter into cental London most days. Confidence in the bike and my abilities should then build again in due course. So, calling on the years of experience and goodwill of LB can anyone spare a few hours on a Sunday morning over the next few weeks to do 40/50 miles on varied roads? Not immediately intending to go up to Rita's for some fruit cake or hanging out with the 'tards though!!!!

I've also plans to do Bikesafe at somepoint soon, as an observed ride would be worthwhile for the feedback and advice - anyone else fancy doing this?

I'm based in Enfield not far from the A10/A406 roundabout so anyone out that way give me a shout.

I was thinking of a sunday afternoon Meet down the Ace 28th Feb 4pm onwards, nothing special just getting a few of the LB old faces together for a chat and a bit of a giggle. If you know me then you know what I mean if you dont then **** it come down anyway I will be sending a few Emails out to "lost" and current memebers via facebook see if we can get a crowd down there. I haven't some of you for a while so just a chance to chew the fat about old times and maybe some new!!

I wont be compiling a list of who will and will not be there so just turn up or not turn up.... spread the word!

ive just called the organisers and you can pay admission on the gate but its 15 pounds as opposed to the tickets which are 12 pounds for adults.
