engine help needed

alreet peeps

as you may know i have a 50cc speedfight LC that does 20mph with the throttle fully open and i am going to be moving up to luton by the end of the month and i will need to be in kentish town for work by 0200am on a mondy and 0230am the rest of the week so i need all the speed i can get out of my ped for the least cash...
would it be possible to switch my 50cc engine with a second hand 100/125cc engine or would it be too complicated like the electronics woulnt be able to take the extra power or something like that??

if it would be possible to do a switch..how easy do you think it would be for me to find a second hand engine??

Thought id let people know ive got a new bike
after looking at all the japanese crap and god knows what which i put for advice on here and was disapointed, i found an Aprilia RS 125 (was my dream bike believe it or not) for sale on ebay and went to check it out and rode the beast home!
i got it for 920 and my neighbour and my uncle and i sat out today and sorted the bits out and theres nothing wrong with it majorly, could do with 1 or two changes due to slight wear and tear like new clutch cable.

17 years old on this thing, the amount of attention its got in the past 2 days alone since i got it is amazing haha.

it's the second time i am doing mot for mt 50cc vespa et2

last year i took it to a garage and paid over £150 for the service and mot...but there is no way to know if all those repairs were indeed nedeed!

Should i just try to take it to a MOT issuing garage?

Can anyone tell me how big the space under the seat of the Aprillia Habana/Mojito is?

A friend of mine is thinking of getting one. One if the things that are important to her is the amount of storage under the seat as putting a top box would ruin the look of the scoot.

I've just had 2 months in Turkey where my everyday transport was ....a scooter.

Never been keen on the things but I now think I see the point.....Easy to use , just point and squirt.

It was a Suzuki Burgman 400 and I'm really tempted to buy one but wondering if any of you guys have ,or have had, one? How did you get on with it long term? Any problems?

Any other big scoots to be considered?

XMAX 250 Suspension

I know it's only a scooter, but it's really a shame that for me the only thing which let's down an otherwise brilliant bike is rock hard suspension. Not sure if they've changed it on more recent models (mine is 06) but I'd love to know if there's any way of improving it, as it's shaking the bike to pieces! A friend of mine also complained he had the same problem on his identical bike - it even caused the front wheel to shatter over one hole in the road!

All change on the scooter front for me!

Last weekend I took a test ride on a Piaggio X8 400ie... wow what a scooter!! It handles really well for quite a big scooter, it felt stable, comfortable and yet still reasonably nippy.

I bought it.:D

I pick it up on Saturday and the first ride I'm going to do is from the dealers down to my parent's flat in Swanage, Dorset. It's that kind of machine. It has a huge Piaggio top box, a boot AND underseat storage so luggage space is not a problem. I can imagine doing serious milemunching on this scooter.

Today I agreed to sell my 250cc Aprilia Leonardo .. and I am quite sad about it. The Leonardo was a great scooter. Not a mile muncher, but great fun, nippy and sporty and chuckable. It encouraged fast cornering... that often took "proper" biker's by surprise. I will miss it. It basically looked like a moped but went about 85mph which was quite amusing sometimes!:P

HI there, i've literally just passed my cbt and am looking at a couple of diferent scooters, i tried all day on a geared bike but couldnt get to grips with the clutch so ended up getting tested on a honda zoomer which i actually really enjoyed, all the time i would of been worrying about gears i was able to pay attention and just focus on whats going on around me, i've been looking at buying a motorbike in anyform for years now and finally got round to the cbt but im really suprissed oh how much fun i had on the scooter and feel lucky i had to be tested on 1, otherwisei would of completely overlooked them.

I'll be commuting to work 5 days a week through busy traffic on pretty much the same route i took for my 2 hours road training and i found only a few times that the 50cc zoomer needed more punch (thats due to the ammount of traffic on these roads) baring this in mind i was looking to wait for the 2008 honda lead to come out as the extra 50 cc will be enough for me. however im wondering what peoples thoughts are on the honda dylan. there have been a few positives threads about on the forum which is good but does any1 know how much they cost of where i can find helpfull reviews?

also will there be much diference in insurance of the 125 dylan and the 100 leadthanks in advance

New to scoots, been biking for 10+ years but think that a scooter might be the way forward for me as I'm about to start the London Taxi Knowledge.

I'm going to have to sell my bike to fund this so I don't want something that's completely shite. I can't see myself on a C90. It's got to at least be a little fun.

What scooters do you recommend??

I don't really need to do ton plus speeds, but would like some poke & pref some comfort.

Looking at Piaggio NRG-DD water cooled, best price so far is 1749 new + TPFT insurance for 149 pound, does anyone know of a better deal or a bloody good second hand model for sale?

Any other advice on these style of bikes would help.

Right,
since passing my CBT in early december, Aprilia RS125 has been my drooling dream!
Now i have sufficient money, i can look to buy not just to dream.
I have £1200, and i would like an aprilia rs 125. I have seen ones with new mots and tax etc in at least good condition going for this price, and i cannot get more money for a while.
My ask for you, is do you know anywhere i could get a used Aprilia RS 125 for this price?
i can not go more than about 60 miles from my home town (postcode = CB9) as i need to go down there with my uncle to inspect.
if anyone knows of somewhere i can fit my needs for this price or less, i will be very thankful.

Firstly, hey all! had to make a new membership but 1 or 2 years ago i was on here, njs71's nephew for any that remember :D

Right, i would like some advice asap please.
Me and my uncle have seen a few foreign bikes being sold lately, and were not sure if it is because there is a problem with them or anything like that.
one that i have took a shine to is a Kaisar XTR 125. i have found a 2008 model for £850 ono, 75 miles says good condition.
Now, good condition probably means not dropped or anything but how do these machines run? Any problems mechanically?

I took my gilera stalker out for the first time the other day after months of rebuilding it with my father i was doing about 25 mph and it cut out. I made sure there was petrol in the tank then tried the kick start but it was solid so i pushed it back to my home my dad took the engine out and found out that the small end bearing located in the piston had broke and the little pins have come out and one decided to force its way up the barrel bounce off the cyilinder head (just missing the spark plug) and shoot into the top of the piston so A 5 pound part has caused A 50 pound part.

bloody italian 2 strokes perfect when there running but a bugger when the smallest thing goes wrong :angry:

I have a three year old Honda CG125 which I bought from the people who I took my CBT with. They were replacing some of their bikes but while out riding the other day, in some epic rain it started to stutter. I guess that is the best word for it, but it juddered a bit as I cranked it up, in the high revs while pulling away.

Anybody got any ideas what might be going on, and if it is a major problem?

Suzuki Burgman AN 250

I got a Burgman AN 250, and my engine broke down some weeks ago. I've tried to get this repaired, but it's seems to be more expensive to repair the engine than what the scooter is worth. In Norway where I live there isn't many Burgman, so it's not possible to get a used engine either. I have tried to search the net for a used engine in Europe, but not been able to locate one. I hope that someone can help me some way. Either by telling me where to look for an engine or by locating one. I hope to find one that has not been droven for to many miles/km. It could either be an engine or a complete Burgman with damages. My Burgman is from 1998, but I think that engines up to 2001 can be used in my Burgman. I have been very happy with the way the Burgman has performed for me, so I hope that it can be possible to make it work again.

Can anyone help me with a link to motorcycle breakers, a link directly to an engine or similar?

I would be very happy to any suggestions. Thanks.

I have a PS125 and about to upgrade to a CBF, so what will happen to the PS?
options considered where:

a)keep for girlfriend & buy bigger bike
b)keep for girlfriend lower seat & buy bigger bike
c)sell & buy bigger bike

it seems first two options are out of the question. the bike is too high and too heavy for Nefeli (my GF) soo..
