calendar confusion

I think you should remove the google calendar on the /events page. All this time I thought that it was the main site calendar, and since its pretty much empty, i thought it worthless.
But yesterday i realised that the calendar actually being used is the "forum calendar".

The logical navigation of new users to the site will be to go to the 'Events' tab, only to see an empty calendar. I think this is very confusing... you should remove the empty google calendar on that page.

I decided on my boring train journey home yesterday to try logging in to LB. Only problem is, it will not accept my username and password.

Have checked all the settings and dont have any problems on any other sites.

Ideas? or is it just a case it will not work from my phone?

Blackberry and PS3 browser

I am unable to log in to LB using either my Blackberry or if using the browser on my PS3.

On the blackberry my username and password isn't recognised and on the PS3 although i can log in as Chenster10r it stills calls me a 'GUEST' and doesn't allow me to post on any forum topic.

Is there a fix to this or do i just need to get out more.............? hehehe

suggestion for events/track days etc

Im wondering if we can somehow use a template for the addition of events/track days to the boards hosting this information? If it were in a template, then it would be easier to list and search for them? This might then be developed into automatic (authorised process) addition to the calendar? If youve used Facebook to list an event, you might have a better idea of the kind of thing Im thinking of. Just that we are such a social lot but there is no consistency in the way that items are listed and they can get lost easily, which means less attendance than is possible...

any thoughts?

ok...first of all it took six..SIX clicks to add ths topic...then i cant quote people...then i cant reply to posts...then i tried to reply to a PM only to have it bounce back to the original PM ie me quoting someone. i still dont know if the recipient got the message. i tried refreshign the browser but to no avail!

Its a shame that the logo Londonbikers.com is now splattered right across the middle of the image as opposed to in the corner. Shame because it now spoils a really cracking image for looking at and using as a desktop wallpaper.

Am I the only one irritated that a whole thread has to be scrolled sideways to and fro to read each line just because someone choses to impose a 977px wide sig? They probably have a widescreen laptop with huge horizontal resolution and don't have the 'favorites' (sic) pane open.

Those of us (me!) who have 4x3 screens with max h.res. of 1024, and who can read every other forum quite happily like that get a tad annoyed.

Limiting sig graphics to 576px wide would do the trick nicely (as I impose elsewhere).

Everytime I post I have to hit F5 a couple of time for the page to be refreshed in order that I can see that particular post has been updated.

Why is it that the forum has an 'Adult Section' to ensure that things stay work safe but yet some members have avatars showing naked oiled men and women that can make things a little awkward for work surfers like me?

Bit inconsiderate in my book. Anyone else think this or am I just scum?

Has there been a change in the format or source of the adverts on LB?

I always use my hosts file to block unwanted adverts etc. This was never a problem on LB (though I might have got one 'click' as the page loaded) - but now I get seven or eight 'clicks' as undesirable URLs are discarded. This can take up to 15 seconds per page, and is making reading LB forums a frustrating experience, plus I now no longer see the links on the RHS of the page.

If you look to the right hand side of your screen you should see a little ad-spot entitled "Our Weekly Bike-Meet" with a picture of a bunch of lids.

Now I know what it is but every time I open the page its like one of those magic -eye pictures and all I can see is a rider falling off his bike.

Anyone else see it?:blink:

I put my bike up for sale yesterday in the bike ads section. It showed up after about an hour or so like it should. I then noticed a spelling mistake and when to edit it but it came back with an error and now the ad seems to have disappeared. Any idea what has happend? Should i just make a new post?

I just wanted to say how much I like the LB site, in its entirety. It is not only one of the best looking and professional bike sites I've seen, but one of the best sites full stop.

Every time I log on I think to myself how great this site looks. I've been working in IT support and web since 1996, so I like to think I know what I'm talking about. ;)

forum clock time

I've checked my settings in the control panel and it is set to London GMT+0 as I think it should be, but when I look at the times in post it shows one hour later than the actual time, is it my time set up wrong or have you forgotten to put the clock right?

Forum time

Can someone go over how the time is monitored on the forum?

My local time reads '00.25' while the forum reads '01.25' - one hour ahead, although it was correct before the clocks went forward.

I don't think I live in a different time zone than the forum default, so why the inconsistency?

I'm in SW15 BTW.
