| driving down the m1 south, 'gritting in progress' and there it was. Do i go slow like the cars hesitating behind, or do i undertake and go for it.. I chose the latter. Splattered!!! Very noisy. Bike got put back away 12am in the dark. Dont intend to use regularly over the winter now. Get it to a valeter? Due to the salt splatter or clean myself. Where do i concentrate on at worst?

| cover it in acf50 treatment.... wash it off in the spring - I always try and get past the bloody things as quickly as possible - rather be in front than pebble dashed

| Give it a quick wash down with a hose (need a time machine to do it properly  ) but yeah ACF50 is what you want..Also been behind a gritting truck before...not fun! And be aware people, lots of grit down this morning so things are gonna get slippy soon....

| Get the beast* washed down with lots of cold water a.s.a.p. to get rid of the salt. I left it 2 days last year and the Aprilia finish (perhaps not the best in the world) suffered.
If youir not going to ride for a while, ACF 50. If you are, clean thoroughly, then ACF 50 with thorough care.
* That's the bike, not the partner. Unless the prtner enjoys that sort of thing.

| | Sorry guys but part of my day job is to make sure that the gritters for the borough of Slough are ready to go out in the evenings during the winter months. Can I say that the salt is extremely corrosive to metal and should be washed off as soon as is humanly possible. Councils have been taken to court over the damage caused not only by the stone chips in the paint, but also the after effects of the corrosion to the metal. I havent heard of a council or the Highways Agency (them that do motorways) losing a case yet. But there have been goodwill payments in the past. Do youselves and your rides a big favour. Get it off!!
