Hi,

Well, I've had the bike out for the past couple of days after my crash last week.

It's sounding a bit rough, though. After it was serviced it was smooth as anything, but since my off it's been more 'brrraaaarp' than 'vroooom' above 3.5k.

I don't know if it's because it had a bash, was on its side, hadn't been used for a few days after I fell off, or if it's just the cold weather.

The dealer couldn't find anything amiss. Although for some reason after getting it back from them this morning, my heated grips now only turn on if I'm giving it some revs. They're wired directly to the battery, as per the instructions. They were fine before I dropped the bike off.

Will all this stuff clear itself up as the weather gets warmer again?

Sorry if these questions are dumb - it's my first winter on two wheels, so I don't know how much cold weather can affect stuff.

Ithangyew.

Does it still give the same sounds when it has warmed up?  Things do get affected by the cold, especially when it is as cold as it is at the moment

How long did it stand for, it is a fuel injected bike or carb? Might need a bit of a clean or some fresh fuel..?

Did it go down on the exhaust?  could be a hole somewhere...

But will pass it over to the more professional posters

Cheers, Elad!

Yep, it sounds much the same when it's warmed up. The past couple of days it's been difficult to start, too. After spluttering and quite a bit of throttle it gets going, though.

It's brand-new fuel-injected SV650 Sport. I put new petrol in it after the off, but perhaps doing that has swilled rubbish around in the tank? It was standing for six days. I've ridden it probably 80 miles since this Saturday.

And yes, it did go down on the exhaust - there's a bit of a dent in it where the silencer meets the pipe from the engine. I hadn't thought about that; it could be blowing somewhere, maybe.

It's one thing after a-bloody-nother with this bike at the moment!

would be worth checking the exhaust gaskets aren't blowing at the head.
At least if that's what it is it'll be a cheap and easy fix.

If you're going to try and fly a bicycle, you'd better make sure ET is sat in the basket and not a twelve-pack of beer

+1 to what he ^ said for the exhaust gaskets as well.

Good Luck with it, doubt it would be a fuel issue, would have worked its way out by now..

I just fired her up.

Seems OK, from what I can tell - not that I know a lot! There's a bit of noise coming from the front, but I dunno if that's normal or not. If it gets worse that'll be my answer, I suppose.

It's probably a combination of me being hyper-sensitive to every little thing, and the fact that I have a new lid. It's the same one, but prolly makes things sound a bit different around my ears.

I'll keep an eye on things - especially those gaskets, just in case - but for now I guess it's business as usual.

Thanks, fellas.
