went with two friends,Steve on a Harley Roadking Ken on a Kawasaki concours, and of course me on an R1100RT, we set off bright and early on Friday morning, by 1600 we were at our Travelodge in Glasgow.
Saturday morning, off at 07.00 and onto the road to Stirling, through the Mountains (some still with snow on them!) via Inverness and up North, once past Dornoch Bridge its a fantastic (if lonely) road all the way up to John 'O' Groats, Having made a fast run from Home to Glasgow, its a bit of a bugger how long it takes to get to J'o'G ! and its 10 hours after leaving Glasgow before we get back To our overnight stop in Inverness.
Sunday we head off down South again, this time going alongside Loch Ness and Loch Lomond, then up into the Mountains , past Glenco and onto the Bridge of Orchy and through some of the most stunning mountain roads and views in the country.Keeping going we rumble down the country, losing Ken and the Kwaker as he breaks off to go home on the A66, Steve and I continue alone down the M6 braving thunderstorms and rain, and 10 mile tail-backs, to arrive in Bridgewater at 21.00.
Monday morning, bright and early, we're off and 3 hours later pull up in Lands End! a cup of tea and off up-country again via the North coast before getting on the M5-M4 and home to Reading for 18.00!
total distance approx 2000 miles, in 4 days and burning the output of a small refinery (about 40 gallons each!)
