Its a shame that the logo Londonbikers.com is now splattered right across the middle of the image as opposed to in the corner.  Shame because it now spoils a really cracking image for looking at and using as a desktop wallpaper.

Shame.

Hi there,

Sorry you feel that way. The reason we have had to do this is because other bike communities/ bike mags and race teams have been using our pictures.

Don't hold me to this but if you send Jay an email, you might be able to get the high res pic without the logo.

Thanks

Hi Sasha, sorry you are inconvenienced by our copyrighting logos but sadly in this day and age we have to protect our works like everyone else.

We have had issues as Lusty said with people using our photos for their own gain without even asking permission never mind recompensing us, but also we have to protect the industry. See, as Media accredited photographers Mike and I are in a very privileged and relatively exclusive group who can take images that the general public can't. And if we have Hi-Def images available free of charge (which is basically what they have been) then we have suddenly reduced the marketability of other members of the group, which doesn't go down well.

Basically, why would anyone commission a photographer to take a shot when they can scrap one of ours for free? So no-one gets paid, everyone is unhappy esp with us, we get run out of the press room and LB doesn't get anymore photos.

So bottom line, we have to protect our work (as any artist does) and in doing so we are more likely to be able to continue bringing shots like these in the future.

Hope you understand Sasha

I think they still make excellent wallpapers, personally. Though I am thinking of developing an option to make it a proper desktop wallpaper, i.e. cropped to size and with a calendar on or something.

Even with this new watermark, you can clearly appreciate the photo and we're still the only ones publishing such amazing shots in such high-definition like this.

that wallpaper idea sounds good, and as you say why shouldn't you 'protect' your work, after a while you dont really take any notice of the logo just see the picture as such

Taking notice of LB logos has never been your strong point has it Steve

I think it's only right and just that the snappers protect their work.

It stops people nicking it for quizzes

Cheers guys for understanding. It's a difficult one, we'd love you to have full power, high-res images to gaze at but it costs a shed load for us to take them and be in a position to take them, which we have to try and earn back.

Which is a commercial thing so we're having to protect them like this. There are plans afoot for wallpapers etc so don't despair
