Hi all, does anyone know where I can get my hands on a gearbox for my R1? I had the second gear slipping fault but now the lever is jammed and im stuck in second gear!! I'm guessing bent selector fork as well as warn dogs :(
I've trawled ebay and can't find one. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction.

think you best bet would be Yamaha or a new engine which both are going to be expensive

most breakers dont strip a engine for parts unless taken a major whack ie crank casing damaged

Try ebay in the states, lack of compulsory motorcycle training and limitations there mean there are loads of parts from sports bikes that have been quickly thrown down the road

Thanks folks I'll try the states and yamaha direct.  I'm sure I should be able to source one from yamaha without the need of replacing the engine. It's only done 23k!!

AInt got time to research it for you fella but I got a 03 plate fazer thousand engine with a good gearbox in which was out of a bike I broke , I believe they are based on the early r1 engine so might be of use to you .
I had a clutch slipping problem and it turned out to be a common fault where by the plug on the end of the shaft that holds the clutch dislodges itself maybe that has happened an jammed the clutch up I'll see if I can dig the video out an post the link.

I did read somewhere that the gearbox from an 03 plate R1 fits I don't know how accurate this is....it's bugging me now I'm itching to ride again

Ok I finally sourced a gearbox for my R1 (4xv model) after lots and lots of searching.  One yamaha dealer actually told me there's a 2 year lead time!!!
Anyway I've now purchased one and it should be here within 2 days.  I'm going to start stripping it down over the next couple of days has anyone done one of these before? I've changed a few gearboxes on the GSXR's but I know the yamaha is going to be very different.
