When I was asked if I would like to review this seasons BSB DVD I jumped at the chance. The only problem we found was finding the 5 hours needed to watch the whole thing!!

British Superbike Championship Review 2009
14 November 2009 | 2 Comments
The 2009 British Superbike Championship was launched under the banner of 'new beginnings'. With the mass exodus of British riders to World Superbike at the end of the 2008 campaign, the championship was faced with the prospect of a close and tough battle between the young, fast emerging British talent and the influx of world renowned talent from the MotoGP and WSB championships. What we were, in fact, treated to was a dominating and crushing Championship onslaught by Leon Camier and the Airwaves Yamaha team.

The Power of Dreams or Nightmares?
01 July 2009
If you mention motorcycles then one of the first manufacturers that you would be likely to mention is Honda. The company has a great prestige in the category stretching right back to the 1960’s when Honda first competed in the Isle of Man TT. However, over recent years the dreams have turned to nightmares as Honda uncharacteristically appears to have been caught out by a combination of the global economic situation and the onslaught of mechanical development from their various competitors.

Riding The New Aprilia RSV4 Factory Superbike
14 May 2009 | 5 Comments
I’m pretty intimidated by the RSV4. It’s not the huge claimed brake horsepower that’s doing it, nor the rumour of the high technology that’s crammed into the bike, which makes it more of a GP bike for the road...

How Ducati’s departure from the British Superbike Series is a good thing for racing all round, and what the chances were of persuading Coca Cola’s marketing people to adopt a blue colour scheme…

Just recently a series of technical acronyms have been bounding about the motorcycle fraternity that have scared and startled some hardcore, old-time bikers and raised a few eyebrows of power rangers all over the world.

British Superbikes: Knockhill Preview
08 August 2008 | 3 Comments
The eighth round of the British Superbike championship travels up north to Fife in Scotland for this years round at Knockhill. The season so far has seen Shane Bryne confidently dominate, but the previous round at Oulton Park saw a new winner for the first time out in the perpetually smiling Yorkshireman and Rizla Suzuki mounted Tom Sykes. With the paddock still feeling the effects of Craig Jones' tragic death, many riders will be honouring the memory of the brilliantly entertaining rider with personal mementos in his respect. Cal Crutchlow will be wearing a replica of Jones' helmet, whereas Dean Ellison of Co-ordit Yamaha will drop a digit from his usual number to match the 18 of the Parkalgar Honda rider.

BSB: Brands Hatch R1 Rescheduled - Weekend Report
17 May 2008 | 4 Comments
Ok so here’s the thing. Instead of the usual “he led into the first corner, then fell off, this other guy went quicker and won” kinda thing, which can be a little dull and is certainly done better by others, here’s the weekend from our point of view… which is usually through a Canon 1D but we’ll try and spare you the techno babble about photography (Lord don’t get me started on that) and just give you all an idea what goes on.

BSB: Round 3 - Oulton Park Event Roundup
10 May 2008
British Superbikes Round 3 was held at the scenic 2.7 mile Cheshire circuit of Oulton Park last week, under yet another grey, leaden sky. This was despite the rest of the country appearing to be in store for a fine Bank Holiday weekend, which didn’t do much for our spirits as we climbed into our sleeping bags, locked the car doors and hoped for sunshine when we woke on Saturday morning.

World Supersport : Can it get any better than this?
29 April 2008
World Supersport has on numerous occasions provided the world with jaw dropping, edge of the seat racing and Sunday proved to be no exception. For the fans that travelled to the cathedral of speed at Assen in Holland they witnessed one of the truly great World Supersport races. Johnny Rea managed to grab the whole shot from his grid slot of second place leading the field into Assen’s tight first corner, which becomes even tighter when you’re trying to fit thirty six supersport machines through it. The Supersport class has affectionately been named the class of the axe murderers. This name has mainly come about because the class is made up of a mixture of up and coming stars and veterans who are trying to make a comeback, because of this no quarter is given between anyone, not even team mates, it’s quite normal to see team mates clashing fairings and elbows in an attempt to battle their way through to the front of this highly competitive field.

Flatout's Day With Virgin Media Optoma Loans Yamaha
25 May 2007
The year was 1976, the month was November and the date was the 9th; the birthday was Flatout's... Thirty years on and a party was thrown to celebrate. The guests arrived at the venue, as did half of londonbikers.com armed with a gift contributed by members past and present. The gift, a VIP day with the Virgin Media Optoma Loans Yamaha BSB race team... So, I booked the day Sunday the 20th at Snetterton and accompanied by my gorgeous fair maiden we made our way to the travel lodge in Cringleford some 16 miles away to avoid a long drive and an early start in the morning.
