Doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde - Ducati Monster 1100S Roadtest
03 December 2009 | 2 Comments
First introduced in 1993, the Ducati Monster continues to be the most popular selling model in the Ducati range. My review bike, the Monster 1100S is bang on current yet ostensibly retaining the look of the original Monster which first rolled out of the factory just over a decade and a half ago; and consequently is yet another example of an iconic time-proof design from the Italian marquee.

Suzuki’s SFV650 Gladius: Under Review
30 October 2009 | 9 Comments
“Gladius”: the Latin word for “Sword”. Specifically the shorter, and naturally more handy version of the traditional long swords. It’s an interesting choice of name from Suzuki, uniting Roman and Samurai inferences with word associations including “thrusting” “sharp” “pointed” and “rapier-like” in the global battle for motorcyclists’ hearts…

Courier Vs Pizzaboy: Battle of The Commuters
19 August 2009 | 8 Comments
This is two sides of the same coin. Me being the coin and the motorbike and the scooter being the two sides of my commuting to work.

Zero S - Two Wheeled Commuting of the Future?
25 July 2009
At it's very least the Zero S is motorcycling on the cutting edge of bike technology. Depending on what you want from a bike of course, the technology has a way to go, but if we look at past innovations that are now taken for granted, it is only a matter of time until what is currently being heralded as new and exciting becomes common place. Let's take a preview at the Zero S...

GIpro X-Type Gear Indicator Review
19 July 2009
The GIpro X-Type is a new gear indicator from Healtech. Unlike other products on the market it reads the gear position information directly from the ECU and the speedo sensor, with only two connections and no programing. This makes setup faster and the gear indications more reliable. It also come with two added features the optimum RPM for gear change and the excess speed warning.

Adventure Motorcycling for Dummies: Preparation and Bike Modifications
10 June 2009 | 5 Comments
You’ve read The Motorcycle Diaries and you’ve watched The Long Way Round, you’ve had it with your job and dream of jacking it all in to ride off into the sunset. Well you wouldn’t be the first person to fantasise of life aboard your steel horse travelling across a distant continent, but of course it’s easy to make that leap if you’re a Hollywood film star or a Cuban revolutionary. Right?

BMW F 800 R - The Future Is Bright
05 June 2009 | 6 Comments
The future is bright for BMW at the moment. Not just bright as in the retina-burning orange paint adorning the F800R that I’m currently riding, but bright as in BMW now sell more than 100,000 bikes a year and around 5500 of those are in the UK per annum.

Riding The New Aprilia RSV4 Factory Superbike
14 May 2009 | 5 Comments
I’m pretty intimidated by the RSV4. It’s not the huge claimed brake horsepower that’s doing it, nor the rumour of the high technology that’s crammed into the bike, which makes it more of a GP bike for the road...

Ducati Streetfighter - Soul of a Superbike, Attitude of a Fighter!
03 May 2009 | 1 Comment
Living up to its name, there was little doubt that the Ducati Streetfighter would score a round one knock-out when it entered the ring for the first time at the 2008 EICMA Show in Milan. Making an immediate impact on the international press and the public, it was nominated “most beautiful bike in show” and raised the bar for extreme nakeds by creating a new point of reference in the market.

Who wants ABS anyway?
08 April 2009 | 7 Comments
Just recently a series of technical acronyms have been bounding about the motorcycle fraternity that have scared and startled some hardcore, old-time bikers and raised a few eyebrows of power rangers all over the world.

BMW K1300 Series Launch - The 'Sexy' One!
29 January 2009 | 2 Comments
BMW’s are getting sexier than ever. Once BMW motorcycles were at odds with the image conjured up by their cars: BMW motors represented class, money, power, performance and style, but BMW bikes represented…well, old people, coppers and dull IAM riders. The arrival of the BMW R1100S ‘sports bike’ changed things back in 1999, and later this year the arrival of the S1000RR will mark the completion of the journey from staid, stoic and sensible, to sexy, saucy and sensational. In the meantime we have these – the updated K1300R, and S, as well as the latest GT. But are they any good?

Michelin Launch the Anakee 2
12 May 2008 | 2 Comments
Nick Sanders, Ewan McGregor, Charlie Boorman, its all their fault. Showing the world that you can travel around with nothing more than a rucksack and a motorbike has led a new generation into the unknown. Making us think it would be easy to stack up the miles and travel across entire continents, encountering a barrage of changing and challenging terrains without so much as a compass and a water bottle for company.

Mean 'N’ Moody Rocketship Cruiser
30 April 2008 | 2 Comments
The 2008 Harley-Davidson Night Rod is a special edition of its drag race inspired V-Rod machine, with some extra blingy bits – moody black paintwork, red coachline on the wheels, restyled saddle etc. All well and good but it’s the 121bhp, fuel injected, 1130cc V-Twin motor that makes this bike a real kick-ass slice of Americana to ride. The Night Rod is ferociously quick off the line, and there’s no shortage of grip from the 240mm wide Dunlop rear tyre.

Yamaha R-Series - 10th Anniversary
15 March 2008
This year Yamaha celebrates ten years of the R-Series – that’s a decade of supersport quality. When they unleashed the very first YZF-R1 in 1998 the bike didn’t just rewrite the rules for supersport performance, it tore them up and wrote its own.
